It’s A New Year, So Spread Some Cheer
I’m not making any New Year resolutions in 2021. Instead, I want to focus on how I can help others have their best year. Why? I read somewhere the best way to help yourself is to help others—so that’s exactly what I’m doing. If you wanna join me on this journey, I’ve put together a list of some things you can start doing to spread some cheer.
Volunteer Locally—From animal shelters to food banks and even local highway clean-ups, there are so many ways to donate your time right here in our town. Figure out what you’re most passionate about and sign up to volunteer today. You’ll leave feeling fulfilled every time.
Buy Coffee For A Stranger—Next time you’re in a drive-thru line at a coffee shop, consider telling the barista you’re also paying for the order behind yours. It’s a great way to put a smile on someone’s face and they might even return the favor for the person behind them!
Smile At Strangers—It’s easy to stay stuck in your bubble when you’re out and about, but the power of a warm smile is immeasurable. Smiles make people feel happy and chances are, when you smile at someone you pass, they’ll smile at the next person they pass too. This could create a chain reaction of smiles around town.
Support Local Businesses—I love the convenience of Amazon. But it’s always fun to support our local Mom & Pop shops whenever possible. They’re staples in our community, and I love knowing my business is going towards my neighbors.
Send A Thank You Card (In The Mail)—Everyone loves getting mail. But nowadays it feels like my mailbox is always filled with junk mail, bills and coupons. That’s why sending thank you cards in the mail is always a fun idea. The recipient will not only know I appreciate them, but they’ll also receive a fun surprise in their mailbox.
I hope these ideas help you spread some cheer in the New Year. And who knows, if you spread enough goodwill, you might find that some of it makes its way back to you. Happy New Year!
